EVENT SUMMARY
The second annual Colorado Elite Eight tournament was a massive success. The event featured the top eight 17 year-old and 16 year-old teams in Colorado and all of the top basketball prospects in the state as well. Congratulations to the Colorado Chaos Blue for winning the championship in the 17 year-old division and the Colorado Chaos Blue for winning the championship in the 16 year-old division. The event summary, which includes the All-Tournament Teams and scoring leaders, can be found below.
17 YEAR-OLD DIVISION
The Colorado Chaos Blue won the title in the 17 year-old division. They defeated the Colorado Hawks 59-51 in an epic, hard fought championship game. The Colorado Chaos Blue also defeated the Colorado Chaos White 66-55 in the semi-finals while the Colorado Hawks had a thrilling 48-46 overtime victory over Next Level Elite in the other semi-final match up.
Cameron Michael (6’4” SG Loveland 2011) and Terrell Brown (6’4” SG Palmer 2011) were named the Co-Most Outstanding Players of the event. They were both tremendous all day long while leading the Colorado Chaos Blue to the title. Michael is a sweet shooting wing who has a great motor and makes a lot of good things happen on both ends of the floor. Brown is a strong wing who gets to the rim well, is a lock down defender and has wonderful intangibles.
Other notable prospects who made the All-Tournament Team in the 17 year-old division include: Xavier Ford (6’7” SF Harrison 2011), Tyrone Marshall (6’8” P George Washington 2011), Riley Grabau (6’2” PG Boulder 2011), Dominic Williams (6’5” SF Lincoln 2011), Marcus Byrd (6’7” CF Highlands Ranch 2011), Isaiah Cooper (5’10” Montbello 2011), Drew Dyer (6’6” Regis 2011) and Jalen Little (5’10” Palmer 2012).
16 YEAR-OLD DIVISION
The Colorado Chaos Blue won the title in the 16 year-old division, defeating the Colorado Hawks 69-65 in a thrilling championship game. The Colorado Chaos Blue also defeated Big Ear 78-67 in a well played semi-final game and the Colorado Hawks defeated the Colorado Chaos White 70-53 in the other semi-final game.
Nate Engesser (6’3” SG Colorado Spring Christian 2012) was named Most Outstanding Player of the 16 year-old division. He was tremendous all day long while leading the Colorado Chaos Blue to the title. He is one of the best pure shooters in the country who has some tremendous scoring ability and can fill it up from all over the court.
Other notable prospects who made the All-Tournament Team in the 16 year-old division include: Wesley Gordon (6’8” P Sierra 2012), Cory Calvert (6’2” PG Chaparral 2012), Shane Jensen (6’7” Arapahoe 2012), Jourdan Hunter (6’1” SG Cherokee Trail 2012), Austin Haldorson (6’8” Highlands Ranch 2012), Calvin Brown (6’0” CG Sierra 2012) and Dylan Waters (6’1” CG Arvada West 2012).
