TOURNAMENT SUMMARY
The inaugural Colorado Elite Eight tournament was a massive success. The event featured the top eight 17 year-old and 16 year-old teams in Colorado and all of the top basketball prospects in the state as well. Congratulations to the Colorado Chaos Blue for winning the championship in the 17 year-old division and the Colorado Hawks for winning the championship in the 16 year-old division. 17 YEAR-OLD DIVISION
The Colorado Chaos Blue won the title in the 17 year-old division. They defeated the Colorado Chaos White 76-58 in the championship game. The Colorado Chaos Blue also defeated the Colorado Hawks in an 80-76 classic thriller in the semi-finals while the Colorado Chaos White defeated Colorado Select Blue 56-48 in the other semi-final game.
Sydney Donaldson (6’4” SG Longmont 2010) was named Most Outstanding Player of the event. He was outstanding on both ends of the floor all day long for the Colorado Chaos Blue. Donaldson is a transplant from England who is a great looking prospect. He can score well from all three levels, handles and shoots the ball well and gets to the rim with ease. He is also very tough on defense and looks to be a solid mid to upper mid major prospect.
Other notable prospects who made the All-Tournament Team in the 17 year-old division include: Bud Thomas (6’6” CF Regis 2010), Tim Billingsley (6’3” SG Arapahoe 2010), Terrell Brown (6’4” SG Palmer 2011), Ray Riley (5’11” Thomas Jefferson 2010), Donthe Lucas (6’7” P Pueblo Central 2010), David Day (6’6” SF ThunderRidge 2010), Nick Tomsick (6’1” SG Broomfield 2010), Keigan Peterson (6’0” SG Green Mountain 2010) and Jalen Little (5’10” PG Palmer 2012).
16 YEAR-OLD DIVISION
The Colorado Hawks won the title in the 16 year-old division, defeating the Colorado Chaos Blue 88-80 in the championship game. The Colorado Hawks also defeated Colorado Basketball Academy 67-66 in an epic overtime thriller in the semi-finals and the Colorado Chaos Blue defeated the Shining Stars Black 84-37 in the other semi-final game.
Leilon Willingham (6’2” SF Mullen 2011) was named Most Outstanding Player of the 16 year-old division. He was phenomenal all day long while leading the Colorado Hawks to the title. He is a versatile player who is very hard to guard due to his offensive versatility. He has a fantastic motor and is one of the top football prospects in the region as well. His basketball stock will certainly rise after his performance in the event.
Other notable prospects who made the All-Tournament Team in the 16 year-old division include: Tyrone Marshall (6’8” P George Washington 2011), Parker Semin (6’6” SF Arapahoe 2011), Ryan Winters (6’6” SF Regis 2011), Cameron Michael (6’3” SG Loveland 2011), Dominic Williams (6’3” SG Lincoln 2011), Cade Kloster (6’2” SG Longmont 2011), Joel Haywood (6’2” CG Lutheran 2011), Nate Engesser (6’3” SG Colorado Springs Christian 2012) and Jourdan Hunter (6’0” CG Montbello 2012).
