CLASS OF 2010 (SENIORS)
The senior class has some excellent performers in the camp. They were led by Sydney Donaldson (6’4” SG Longmont) and Jordan Carter (6’6” SF Chatfield), who were named the Co-Most Outstanding Upperclassmen. Donaldson is a very athletic wing with a ton of upside. His instincts and athleticism are tremendous. He is a smooth lefty who is virtually ambidextrous in the paint and gets to the rim with ease. He is also a good shooter and a wonderful defender who is able to defend multiple positions. He will be a steal as a spring signee for a mid major program. Carter is a long, athletic mid-sized player who runs the floor very well and plays with very good energy. He is very active on the glass and finishes well in both the half court and in transition and was virtually unstoppable scoring the ball in the game sessions. He is a nice looking prospect who should be a good college player with some continued development.
Daniel Estes (6’0” PG Laramie, WY) had a great camp. He was one of the hardest workers during the skill instruction both days and he plays as hard as any player in the region. He is a fantastic ball handler who uses his strength and quick first step to attack the rim and create shots for himself and his teammates. He is also a tremendous defender and shooter with great range. Taylor Guerro (6’2” SG Northridge) is an underrated guard who is a very talented natural scorer. He shoots the ball well from various ranges and uses his quick release to get nice looks at the rim. Andrew Papenfus (6’6” SF Aspen) is another underrated player who burst onto the scene with a tremendous performance in the event. He is a versatile player who works very hard on both ends of the floor. He scores well in the paint and has a nice stroke as well.
Josh Morgan (6’2” PG Buena Vista) is a hard working point guard who does all the little things right. He shoots the ball well and does a great job of making things happen when he gets in the paint. He is also a natural leader and should make just about any RMAC school very happy if they were able to sign him. Jerel Rote (5’9” PG Cheyenne East, WY) is another nice point guard who burst onto the scene with a strong performance in the event. He gets into the paint very well and is a great rebounder for his size. He also plays very hard on both ends of the floor. Derek Perez (6’6” CF University) is another senior who made the All Event Team. He is a big bodied combo forward who uses his excellent footwork to score around the rim. He also plays very hard and hits the glass hard on both ends of the floor. Jordan Rockwell (6’2” SG Greeley West) and Matt Holmes (6’0” CG Aspen) also made strong performances in the event.
CLASS OF 2011 (JUNIORS)
The junior class was led in the event by Cameron Michael (6’4” SG Loveland). He is a natural scorer who was able to score at will in the games by getting in the paint and hitting tons of jump shots. He also has a nice frame for his position and plays very hard on both ends of the floor. Some added development with his ball handling should make him a very nice college prospect. Jordan Gregory (6’2” CG Pueblo East) was tremendous in the event as well. He is one of the best perimeter prospects in the state, regardless of class. He is a natural scorer who plays very hard and gets into the paint very well. His court vision has also improved tremendously over the past few months. Dominique Wright (6’6” SF Fountain-Fort Carson) is a solid and versatile athlete who gets to the rim well with a quick first step has improved shooting range. He is very strong and finishes well around the rim and is one of the best offensive rebounders in the state.
Taylor Maunu (5’9” PG Mountain Range) was very solid in the camp. He worked hard in the skill sessions and performed well in the games as well. He is a solid point guard who shoots the ball well and plays tough defense, especially on the ball. He is also an excellent ball handler in the open court and always seems to find his open teammates. Brett Olson (6’4” SG Highlands Ranch) is a great looking prospect who seems to improve by the week. He is a great shooter with excellent range and he has been working hard at improving his ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim off the dribble. Aaron Sanders (5’10” PG Northridge) is the final junior to make the All Event Team. He is an underrated, high energy player with excellent instincts. He is very solid on defense and seems to always be in the right place at the right time. Nick Mayes (6’5” CF Laramie, WY) was also very solid in the event. He is a high energy banger who gives his all on every possession. Amal Wilson (6’5” SF Kennedy) and Javon Moore (6’5” SG Arapahoe) also had nice camps and would have had a great chance to make the All Event Team if they were able to attend the entire camp.
CLASS OF 2012 (SOPHOMORES)
Three sophomores made the All Event Team. They were led by Jalen Little (5’10” PG Palmer), who was named the Top Underclassmen in the event. Little was fantastic all weekend long in both the skill sessions and the games. He is a slick point guard who is possible the best ball handler in the state, regardless of class. He is also a tough defender and his shot is constantly improving. He plays very unselfish basketball and has a wonderful knack for finding his open teammates and whipping quick passes through very small holes. Charles Smith (5’10” PG Mullen) is another very solid point guard who has a bright future. He is lightning quick and has a very quick pull up jump shot. He is also a solid defender and does a great job finding his open teammates when he attacks the paint. Kaileb Rodriguez (6’8” CF ThunderRidge) also made the All Event Team. He is a wonderful looking prospect with loads of upside. He runs the floor very well and is aggressive finishing at the rim. He also has great defensive instincts and footwork. Some added physical development and continued offensive aggressiveness will help boost his stock.
Nate Engesser (6’3” SG Colorado Springs Christian), Sheldon Darnell (6’7” CF Greeley Central) and Alex Welsh (6’4” SF Pomona) also had great camps and each made a strong case for the All Event Team. In addition, Nathan McGinley (6’4” SG Monarch) and Cory Calvert (6’1” PG Chaparral) also played very well on Saturday and were on pace to make the All Event Team if they were able to participate in the entire camp.
