CLASS OF 2011 (SENIORS)
The Class of 2011 had some solid performances in the camp. They were led by Chris Hansen (64 SG Fossil Ridge), who was named the Top Senior in the event. He is one of the best shooters in the state and has improved his ability to attack the rim and handle the ball. He missed nearly a year with a broken leg and looks to be better than ever now that hes back and completely healthy.
In addition to Hansen, three other seniors mad the All Event Team. This group was led by Brandon Jackson (60 CG Pueblo West), who had a breakout performance in the event. Hes an athletic lead guard who is a strong defender and scores well at the rim. Andre Reider (65 SF Boulder) also was solid in the event. Hes a strong, versatile player who plays hard and can play a variety of positions. Isaac Ridderhoff (66 P Colorado Springs Christian) was solid in the event. Hes a strong big man who runs the floor and rebounds well and is active around the rim. The final senior to make the All Event Team was Riley Grabau (61 PG Boulder). Hes one of the top unsigned seniors in the region and should be one of the leading scorers in the state this season. Grabau is a smooth lead guard who shoots the ball well and does a great job of creating for his teammates.
Other seniors who played well but didnt quite make the All Event Team were Riley Grabau (61 PG Boulder), Tony Sykes (60 CG Standley Lake) and Brandon Balagrat (60 SG Pueblo West) and Eric Rothweiler (62 SG Boulder)
CLASS OF 2012 (JUNIORS)
The Class of 2012 dominated the event, placing all-time event high 13 players on the All Event Team. Some of the most talented players from this class participated in the event and made strong showings. Some others had breakout performances in the event. The class was led by Nate Engesser (63 SG Colorado Springs Christian), who was named the events Most Outstanding Player and Top Junior. He has committed to play at the University of Denver and showed why hes a top prospect in the event. He is one of the best shooters in the region and continues to improve his ability to put the ball on the deck and attack the rim. He has a chance to be a two-time 3A Mr. Basketball and will make the coaches at Denver very happy in the future.
A few other juniors made strong cases to be named Most Outstanding Player of the event. This group was led by Jalen Little (510 PG Palmer). He is one of the quickest players and best ball handlers in the region and can score from all over the floor. He also has tremendous court vision and does a great job of getting his teammates involved. Similar to Little, Cory Calvert (62 PG Chaparral) can create very well for himself and his teammates. He loves to push the ball on the break and has a knack for getting to the rim in the half court. Both Little and Calvert are easily the top two 2012 point guards in the state. Also making a strong effort for the Most Outstanding Player award was Rocky Mountain Fall Showcase M.O.P. Stone Hood (63 SG Discovery Canyon). He is an outstanding shooter with a strong frame who also scores well at the rim and rebounds well for his position. He has improved a ton over the past year and should be one of the top juniors in the state this season.
Cody Heimann (62 SG Niwot) also made a strong showing in the event. Hes an athletic slasher who scores well at the rim and in transition. Hes also an outstanding defender and rebounds well for his position. Heimann has a lot of upside and is improving rapidly and will be a solid college prospect with some added development. Chase Duben (65 SF Ralston Valley) had a breakout performance in the event. Hes a strong lefty who scores well around the rim and plays very hard. He should be one of the top players in his conference this year. Joining him as a Jeffco League standout is Alex Welsh (66 SF Pomona). He is a long, smooth mid sized player who shoots the ball well and does a great job of attacking the rim in the half court. Some added strength will make him one of the top prospects in his class. A few point guards, Drake Kennedy (60 PG Grandview) and Charles Smith (510 PG Mullen) also played well in the event. Kennedy is poised for a breakout season and will be one of the top guards in his league this season. Hes a heady and tough point guard who can score in a variety of ways and defends very well. Smith is a quick, shifty guard who does a great job of pushing the ball on the break and scoring at the rim or creating for his teammates.
A few other juniors had breakout performances at the event and made the All Event Team. This group was led by Kyle Broekhuis (65 SF Colorado Springs Christian). Hes a versatile and long player who can do a little bit of everything. He shoots the ball well and is strong going to the rim in the half court and in transition. Hes also a strong rebounder and shot blocker. He should have a huge breakout junior season this year. Two other mid sized players also had breakout performances in the event. Garrett Bryant (66 SF Fossil Ridge) is a strong, athletic player who has improved a ton over the past year. He scores well around the rim and plays very hard and should help make Fossil Ridge one of the top teams in the state in their first year in 5A. Lauren Ban (65 SF Boulder) was also impressive. Hes an athletic lefty who plays hard and runs the floor like a deer. He has a nice frame and a ton of upside and could be a nice college prospect with some added skill development. The final junior to make the All Event Team was Nick Ongarato (62 CG Broomfield). He is a long, smooth wing who scores well at all three levels and has a lot of upside. He will help make Broomfields backcourt one of the best in the state this season.
A few other juniors who played well but didnt quite make the All Event Team were Michael Zeller (63 SF Green Mountain), Canyon Barry (64 SG Cheyenne Mountain), Brandon Applehans (510 PG Standley Lake), Derek Karg (62 SG Sterling), Eric Rayer (61 SG Coronado) and Dakota Wallin (62 SG Dakota Ridge).
CLASS OF 2013 (SOPHOMORES)
The Class of 2013 had only one player make the All Event Team; Caleb Callahan (62 SG Legend). Hes a quick, left handed wing who scores well at the rim and has a nice jump shot from both mid range and beyond the stripe. He has a nice frame for his position as well and should be poised to have a breakout sophomore season.
A few other sophomores who played well in the event but didnt quite make the All Event Team were Sam Feldman (62 SG Laramie, WY), Jonah Charnick (63 SF Boulder) and Kedrick Stewart (60 SG George Washington). Feldman in particular had a strong showing in the event and should be one of the top sophomores in Wyoming this season.
CLASS OF 2014 (FRESHMEN) and 2015 (8th GRADE)
The Classes of 2014 and 2015 made a strong showing in the event. Chances Matlock (63 SF Falcon 2014) was the best of the bunch and the only player to make the All Event Team. Hes an athletic and versatile mid sized player who scores well at the rim and has a ton of upside.
